Learning tips
- Use sequencing connectors to make your narrative feel natural: **primeiro** (first), **depois** (then), **em seguida** (next), **finalmente** (finally).
- 'Todos os dias' and 'todo dia' both mean 'every day'. Both are correct — 'todo dia' is a touch more colloquial.
- When narrating routines, stick to the present tense — Portuguese uses the simple present for habitual actions, just like English ('I wake up at seven' / 'Eu acordo às sete').
- 'Dormir' (to sleep) and 'se deitar' (to go to bed) are different! You 'get into bed' (se deitar) and then you 'sleep' (dormir). The latter is the actual sleeping.
